Master-Thesis in area simulations for integrated Ground Segment

(d/f/m)

• Duration: 6 months

As trainee you will gain an overview about a real example of a Ground Segment for a complex Earth Observation mission and you will explore how to simulate its end-to-end planning capabilities.

The focus of our department is the design and implementation of turn-key solutions for complete Ground Segment, including data receiving stations, payload data processing and satellite control system.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Design a generic simulated environment with which the Ground Segment will interact (architecture, functions, interfaces, reporting/visualization capabilities)

• Study a specific mission for implementation of simulated environment

• Implement simplified functions of the Ground Segment capable to interact with the simulated environment

• Implement the simulated environment for the chosen mission

• Demonstrate the end-to-end simulation capabilities

Desired skills and qualifications

• Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in the area of Computer Science, Telecommunication or an equivalent field of study

• Good programming skills (e.g. Java, Python)

• Good knowledge of Linux environment

• Good knowledge of ReST paradigm and underlying protocols

• Knowledge of virtualisation and cloud technology is an advantage

• Knowledge of Ground Segment is an advantage

• Team-player

• Good communication skills

• Self-organising

• English: advanced

• German: basic (any higher level is an advantage)
