Job Overview

We are looking for a Postdoc studying the heart-brain axis in a stroke model. Candidates are interested in working in an interdisciplinary, translational team of biologists and clinician-scientists. In this project, we aim to study the heart-brain interplay after stroke in different rodent in vivo models as well as human samples, identifying sex-specific mechanisms and the potential role of targeting extracellular RNA.

The project is funded with 900.000 € in total for 3 years by the DZHK (Deutsches Zentrum für Herz-Kreislauf-Forschung e.V.).

• Planning and execution of in vivo (mouse model) and in vitro experiments
• Handling of transgenic animals
• Responsibility for laboratory equipment
• Supervision of scientific personnel
• International presentation of results
• Scientific staff will be provided with sufficient time for their own research work according to the terms of their employment.

We are looking for

• PhD in Neuroscience, Vascular Biology, Immunology, or a related field
• Experience in conducting in vitro and translational in vivo experiments
• Proficiency in modern histology and microscopy techniques, multi-omics single-cell analyses, and/or organoid development
• Knowledge in Vascular Biology and Neuroimmunology is desirable
• Expertise in state-of-the-art imaging and bioinformatics is highly welcome
• Independent work style and creativity
• Willingness to learn new methods and take on responsibilities
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Self-motivation, multitasking, and effective teamwork are essential
• Experience in writing scientific papers

Job Information

• Pay scale E13 according to TVöD- VKA- K. The grouping takes place under consideration of the qualification, the respective experience level is calculated from the completed professional years. The annual salary (gross) is given for a full-time position without annual bonus, allowances and additional services. You can find the collective agreement here.
• The working time is full-time with 39 hours per week
