Area Sales Manager Central Europe & Nordics
We are looking for an Area Sales Manager, Central Europe & Nordics to increase the order intake within the assigned geographical area, to lead and motivate the dedicated sales team. The Area Sales Manager, Central Europe & Nordics will be reporting into the General Manager Sales Automation & Navigation. The Area Sales Manager, Central Europe & Nordics will manage and be responsible for all aspects of sales activities from handling and coordination of inquiries to successful handover of orders to order processing.
Preferred location of this position is Hamburg (Germany).
Key responsibilities:
- In this role you will lead our Central Europe & Nordics Sales Team – covering one of the main regions and teams in terms of customers, market, sales team size and knowledge supporting also other regions.
- You will manage and coach your team to set the preconditions for high engagement and great performance.
- You will develop and manage sales channels for example via sales partners/ distributors/ OEM partnerships etc. in line with corresponding Wärtsilä directives.
- You will coordinate bid management to internal and external customers according to set processes and KPIs.
- You ensure the dedicated sales process and tools are being utilized in cooperation with our project management team.
- You monitor and report the status of his/her sales activities and ensure that activities and targets fulfil stakeholder expectations.
- You support Sales Manager/s with technical meetings using domain expertise to generate successful customer solutions.
- You participate in project meetings and secure customer communication together with project management teams.
- You support Market Segment teams with information enabling market penetration and growth.
- You contribute to strategic planning, regional plans, forecasting, budgets, and promotion plans
- You collaborate with our Marketing department to prepare for tradeshows and industry conferences to make them a success for us.
Accountabilities:
- Accountable for quality and timely response for inquiries, quotations and orders.
- Accountable for line and resource management (personnel and other) of your team in cooperation with Management.
- Accountable for evaluating the performance of the sales team, CRM usage and preparing corresponding sales reports
- Accountable for developing and implementing sales and marketing plans to drive sales and profit
- Accountable for collecting customer feedback and market research
Your profile
Key Requirements:
- BA/BS in Business Management, Sales Management, Business Development Management, Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or equivalent relevant background.
- Experience on board of a ship in technical or nautical function is a plus
- Minimum 5+ years in Sales, Business Development and Sales Management with a track record of delivering P/L results.
- A well-functioning network in the marine industry, good understanding of stakeholders in the sales process.
- Experience in multicultural and international working environment.
- Very good product and sales knowledge of Automation and Navigation system and solutions in both, new build and retrofit.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in English (written and oral).
- Willingness to frequently travel international and domestic
