We are a university with a focus on engineering and natural sciences as well as economics, human sciences and medicine. We offer excellent study and working conditions to 13,000 students from Germany and abroad as well as approx. 3,000 employees.

The has been established in 2019 to investigate mechanisms of healthy synaptic ageing and is currently in its second funding period. In SynAGE, researchers at different levels of their career (MD, PhD candidates, postdocs, junior and senior PIs) work together in interdisciplinary projects to unravel fundamental mechanisms that maintain synaptic and circuit functions in the ageing brain. SynAGE provides state of the art training in translational research using molecular, cellular and systems as well as cognitive neurobiology.

We currently seek 13 highly motivated PhD candidates.

Requirements profile:

• You have a university degree (MSc or equivalent) in Neuroscience, Biology, Biochemistry, Psychology or related disciplines
• You have enthusiasm and dedication for basic and translational research
• You have a strong motivation to learn new methodologies and the ability to independently plan, conduct and analyse experiments
• You are a creative and active team player, who is fluent in English

• You have the opportunity to pursue a PhD and are supported and promoted accordingly
• You will be working in an interdisciplinary environment and an international team
• You have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge neuroscience and neurotechniques
