Role Purpose

As the Development Lead for Lab Automation (w/m/d), you will be accountable for the delivery of the product development and later product care projects on time, on cost, on quality and according to product requirements. At the same time, you are supporting the entire team to deliver on its overarching priorities contributing to a holistic customer solution approach.

You will be a key interface in translating customer and business needs coming from the life cycle team into clear priorities for the Project Team (PT), to guide the focus of the PT’s experts and sub-projects. As such, you will closely work with the International Product Manager (IPM) / Life cycle ProjectLeader (LCT PL), Global Customer Service team and the Global Operations organization.

You will be responsible for

Delivering the Automation product development projects along the complete product life cycle

• Ensure product releases and updates of instruments are being delivered according to timeline, quality, budget and product requirements

• Address functional needs and operational issues, e.g. technical, regulatory, business - in alignment with International Product Manager (IPM) / Life cycle ProjectLeader (LCT PL) -

• Make sure all development activities are aligned with the scope of the predefined goals

• Proactively challenge project teams on delivery and alternative courses of action

Advancing the work of CoreLab Instrumentation, making tradeoffs and breaking silos

• Collaborate with other Development Leads and Project Teams on our Lab Automation offering

• Ensure transparency on the state, progress and risks of the projects

• Manage relationships and communication with the sub chapters in CoreLab Instrumentation

• Accountable for all activities related to instrument development and management of the external partners

• Drive team debate and decision around key issues that determine product quality, functionality or schedule

• Break down silos and improve working effectiveness as an ‘integrator’ across the organization as needed; in particular through collaboration with other projects, Sub Chapters and stakeholders to resolve escalated bottlenecks and dependencies, as well as, rebalance work & help in line with greater strategic priorities

• Collaborate with your peers in the Development Leads Sub Chapter in order to advance our own capabilities to successfully deliver instrumentation projects

As a Development Lead you

• Have 10+ years of experience in project leadership within product development, preferably in IVD products

• Demonstrated your ability to lead large (150 FTE+) product development projects with challenging timelines

• Have an engineering background and a strong understanding of hardware and software

• Analytical and structured working style

• Demonstrated your ability to successfully negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders

• Experience in managing external partners

• Deep understanding of the IVD industry, lifecycle & development processes and global trends. Experience in Lab Automation as well as a good understanding of the Roche Diagnostics product portfolio is a strong plus.

• Consistent record of building collaborative relationships with peers and teams, helping cross-functional teams address strategic opportunities

• A desire and openness to learning and continuous improvement, both of yourself and your team members

• Evidence of strong strategic thinking, communication, planning and organizational skills required

• Ability to navigate within a changing organization, dealing with ambiguity, maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, open communication and consensus building skills

• Fluent in German and English
