The EMBL Protein Expression and Purification Core Facility provides support regarding all types of experiments

The minimum requirement for this position is a degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or in a closely related scientific area. Expertise in the field of recombinant protein production in the milligram scale using different gene expression systems is crucial. A strong understanding and background knowledge of chromatographic techniques such as affinity chromatography, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction chromatography and size exclusion chromatography is required. Extensive hands-on experience with the use of automated chromatography platforms for protein purification is absolutely essential. Teamwork, flexibility, strong organizational skills and the ability to interact with a varied multicultural user community are expected. Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.

Cell culture experience and expertise in the field of protein expression in eukaryotic cells, especially insect and mammalian cells, would be considered a strong advantage for this position. A good working knowledge of various cloning methods would be highly beneficial as well.
