This position is part of the German Research Foundation (DFG) funded research unit Cancer Mechanical Properties towards Better Diagnoses and Therapies (FOR5628), which is currently being established at the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The biomechanical properties of tumors and cancers in vivo will be investigated from the cell to the tissue scale. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team of basic scientists and physicians using state-of-the-art imaging techniques and well-equipped laboratories for cell and tissue material testing. Our team has unique expertise in MRI, elastography, atomic force microscopy, tissue biology, zebrafish animal models, organoid culture, medical image processing, and tissue characterization. Depending on the qualifications and background of the candidate, specific projects will be defined that fit into the work place.

Job Overview

We are looking for
We are seeking highly motivated, curious, enthusiastic, and results-oriented graduate students with excellent academic records. Requirements:
- Completed studies (Master's degree) in physics, biology, chemistry, engineering or overlapping fields
- Strong interest in medical imaging, especially MRI
- Ability to work in a team, high level of initiative
- Reliability and flexibility
- Good computer skills (Matlab), handling of MS Windows and Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point), knowledge of statistics (statistical programs such as R, GraphPad Prism or SPSS) is highly appreciated
- Good English skills, both written and spoken
