The work schedule for this position is:
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
The Protocol Assistant serves as the Consulate’s expert in Protocol, advising the Consul General (CG) and colleagues as necessary. The Protocol Assistant is responsible for all official events at the Residence, including planning, budget, menu, guestlist, invitations, staffing the event and ensuring its success. This position manages the Principal Officer’s and Consulate’s contacts, and official Correspondence for the CG. They serve as a liaison with German government officials, other diplomatic missions, international businesses, and the local community. This position is responsible for delivering and receiving gratuities, as well as for accrediting and badging the entire U.S. Delegation for the Munich Security Conference.
EXPERIENCE:
At least two years of progressively responsible secretarial experience including translation, interpretation, or public relations work, scheduling and organizing visits, official dinners, etc. is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of German government, commercial, cultural and academic institutions.
Completion of Secondary School is required.
LANGUAGE:
English fluent speaking/reading/writing is required, may include the ability to translate (this may be tested).
German fluent speaking/reading/writing is required, may include the ability to translate (this may be tested).
