At the Chair of Geochemistry and Economic Geology, we focus our research on hydrothermal ore deposits, geochemistry of geothermal systems, re-mining of mine waste and pollutant dynamics, and wish to develop strong and visible research in these fields. We offer this position in the German Priority Programme “Dynamics of Ore Metals Enrichment – DOME”. The topic is to investigate ore fluid characteristics of orogenic Au-only and Au-Cu-Co-Ag deposits in the Pohjanmaa Belt (Finland) by mainly halogen geochemistry of hydrothermal alteration minerals, stable isotopes and fluid inclusions. Our laboratory is well-equipped for most geochemical data required. Contacts to other laboratories required are established.
Your tasks are:
- to conduct your own research in the project, perform all analyses and interpret the data;
- to publish in international peer-reviewed journals and present research results at scientific meetings;
- to write internal reports and communicate with research partners and lab technicians;
- to supervise Master and undergraduate students that may be interested in the topic;
- to generate collaboration nationally and internationally.
You will be given the opportunity to prepare a PhD thesis.
as soon as possible
The following qualifications are required seeking your consideration for this position.
- MSc degree (or equivalent) in geosciences or related subjects with research interests in (1) the genesis of orogenic gold deposits; and (2) the geochemistry of hydrothermal fluids;
